Care and harvest
Feeding
Annual application of balanced granular fertiliser or well-rotted manure/compost in early spring. Mulch helps retain moisture.
Pruning
In winter, remove around one-third of the oldest, darkest stems down to ground level. Fruit is produced on 1-3 year old wood.
Harvesting
Pick when berries are fully black and plump. Harvest whole strigs (bunches) rather than individual berries.
Storage
Refrigerate for a few days. Excellent for freezing whole or as a purée.
