March – September, direct sow successionally every 2-3 weeks

Thin seedlings to 10-15cm (4-6") apart

Full sun to partial shade (shade in summer prevents bolting)

Keep soil consistently moist to prevent bolting and bitterness

Well-drained, fertile, pH 6.0–7.0

10-15cm (4-6") between plants

Excellent in pots and window boxes
Indoors
Can be grown in a cool, bright spot for a winter supply
Care and harvest
Feeding
Not usually needed if soil is good; use a balanced liquid feed if growth is poor

Harvesting
Snip outer leaves 2.5cm (1") above ground for cut-and-come-again, or harvest whole plants
Storage
Store washed and dried leaves in an airtight bag in the fridge for 3-5 days
